Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Deckoli
Getting Started
What is Deckoli?
Deckoli transforms your video game collection into beautiful, collectible trading cards with an MTG-inspired aesthetic. Each game in your collection becomes a unique card with its own rarity, and you can earn points, unlock achievements, and share your collection with others.
How do I create an account?
Click the "Sign In" button in the header and choose to sign in with either Google or Discord. After authenticating, you'll be asked to choose a unique username. That's it - you're ready to start building your collection!
How do I add games to my collection?
Go to the Browse page to search for games. When you find a game you want to add, click on it to view the card, then use the status buttons to add it to your collection. You can add games to your wishlist or directly to your library (backlog, playing, completed, or shelved).
How can I quickly add games to my collection?
Look for the purple "+" button at the top right of any card. Click or tap it to quickly add the game to your collection in a shelved status. You'll still see the rarity reveal, but you don't need to open the full card view first.
Can I add games from someone else's collection?
Yes! When viewing another user's collection, you'll see the quick add button on any games you don't already own. This makes it easy to discover and add games you see in friends' collections.
Is Deckoli free?
Yes! The core experience — building your collection, earning points, unlocking achievements, and sharing your profile — is completely free. Deckoli Plus is an optional subscription that adds premium card effects, unlimited platform syncing, and 1.5x points. You can try Plus free for 14 days with no credit card required.
Game Sync
What is Game Sync?
Game Sync lets you connect your gaming platform accounts to quickly import your games into Deckoli. Instead of searching for and adding games one by one, you can sync your entire library in seconds. PlayStation Network and Xbox are currently supported, with more platforms coming soon.
Do synced games automatically get added to my collection?
No. After syncing, you'll see a list of games to review. You can then choose which games to add to your collection, dismiss games you don't want, or add them all at once. This gives you full control over what appears in your collection.
How often can I sync?
You can manually sync once per hour. This cooldown prevents excessive API usage while still letting you keep your library up to date when you play new games.
Can I connect multiple platforms?
Free accounts can connect one platform at a time. Deckoli Plus members can connect all their platforms simultaneously and keep them all in sync. You can try Plus free for 14 days.
Are there achievements for syncing?
Yes! Each platform has its own achievement track with milestones for connecting your account, syncing games, and reaching platform-specific milestones (like trophy counts for PlayStation or gamerscore for Xbox). These are separate from the regular collection achievements.
PlayStation
How do I connect my PlayStation account?
Go to the Sync Games page and enter your PSN Online ID (username). Your PSN profile must be set to public for syncing to work. Once connected, your games will be synced and you can review which ones to add to your collection.
What gets synced from PlayStation?
We sync your full trophy list, including:
- Every game you've played on PSN
- Trophy progress per game (earned vs. total)
- Platinum trophy status for each game
- Account trophy level (your overall PSN level)
- Total trophy count across all games
Your trophy level and total count feed into PlayStation-specific achievements on Deckoli.
Why does my PSN profile need to be public?
PlayStation's privacy settings control who can see your trophy list. If your profile is private, we can't access your trophy data. You can change this in Settings > Privacy Settings on your PlayStation console or in the PlayStation App.
Xbox
How do I connect my Xbox account?
Go to the Sync Games page and enter your Xbox Gamertag. Your Xbox privacy settings must allow others to see your game and achievement history. Once connected, your games will be synced and you can review which ones to add.
What gets synced from Xbox?
We sync your complete Xbox game history, including:
- Every game you've played on Xbox
- Achievements earned per game
- Gamerscore per game and your total account gamerscore
Your gamerscore feeds into Xbox-specific achievements on Deckoli — there are milestones all the way up to 1,000,000G.
What Xbox privacy settings do I need?
Your Xbox profile needs to allow others to see your game and achievement history. You can check this at Xbox Privacy Settings — make sure "Others can see your game and app history" and "Others can see your achievements" are set to Everybody. If your profile is too restrictive, syncing won't be able to find your games.
Steam
Can I sync my Steam library?
Not yet — Steam integration is on the roadmap and coming soon. Stay tuned!
Rarity System
How does rarity work?
When you add a game to your library (any status except wishlist), it gets assigned a rarity. There are six tiers, from most common to rarest:
- Common - Most frequently assigned
- Uncommon - Slightly better than common
- Rare - Noticeably special
- Epic - Impressive finds
- Legendary - Exceptional cards
- Mythic - The rarest tier
What factors affect rarity?
Rarity is influenced by two main factors:
- Game Rating: Higher-rated games have better odds of higher rarities. A masterpiece-rated game (95+) has significantly better chances than an average game.
- Game Age: Older games receive a "vintage bonus" that improves their rarity odds. Games 20+ years old get the biggest boost, making retro gems more likely to be rare finds.
Can I re-roll my rarity?
No, you can't re-roll to try for a different result. The initial rarity you receive is locked. However, you can always upgrade your cards to a higher rarity tier by spending points. See the Points & Upgrades section below for upgrade costs.
Why doesn't my wishlist game have a rarity?
Games in your wishlist don't receive a rarity because you don't own them yet. Once you move a game from wishlist to your library (backlog, playing, completed, or shelved), it will get assigned a rarity with the reveal animation.
Collection Statuses
What do the different statuses mean?
- Wishlist: Games you want but don't own yet. No rarity assigned.
- Backlog: Games you own but haven't started playing.
- Playing: Games you're currently playing.
- Completed: Games you've finished.
- Shelved: Games you own but aren't planning to play (maybe you tried it and it wasn't for you).
- Hidden: Games you want to hide from Browse results and your public profile. See below for details.
What does hiding a game do?
Hiding a game removes it from Browse results, your public profile, your stats, and the activity feed. It won't earn points or trigger achievements. Think of it as a way to make a game disappear from your experience without removing it entirely.
To unhide a game, go to your Collection page and use the "Hidden" filter tab. From there, flip the card and select any other status (like Backlog or Wishlist) to bring it into your collection. If you just want to remove it from Hidden status without moving it to another status, click the "Hide" button again — you can always re-hide it later from Browse.
What's the difference between Wishlist and Library?
Your "library" consists of games with any status except wishlist and hidden - these are games you actually own. Library games get a rarity assigned, appear with full card styling, and count toward your collection stats. Wishlist games are tracked separately as games you want to acquire.
Can I change a game's status?
Yes! You can change status at any time by clicking on the card and selecting a new status. If you move a wishlist game to a library status, it will get assigned a rarity at that moment.
Why can I only add an unreleased game to my wishlist?
Games that haven't been released yet can only be added to your wishlist. You can't add them to your library (backlog, playing, etc.) because you can't own a game that isn't out yet. Once the game releases, you'll be able to move it to a library status and receive your rarity.
Points & Upgrades
How do I earn points?
You earn points through various activities:
- Adding games to your collection
- Completing games
- Maintaining login streaks (signing in on consecutive days)
- Unlocking achievements
What's the difference between Lifetime Points and Spendable Points?
Lifetime Points represent your total points earned ever. This number never decreases and reflects your overall activity on Deckoli.
Spendable Points are the points you can use to upgrade cards. When you spend points on an upgrade, your spendable balance decreases but your lifetime total stays the same.
How do card upgrades work?
You can spend points to upgrade a card to the next rarity tier. Open a card, then click on the upgrade bar or button to see upgrade options. Each upgrade tier costs more points:
- Common → Uncommon: 50 points
- Uncommon → Rare: 150 points
- Rare → Epic: 400 points
- Epic → Legendary: 1,000 points
- Legendary → Mythic: 2,500 points
Mythic cards cannot be upgraded further since they're already at maximum rarity.
How do I find cards I can upgrade?
Use the "Upgradeable" filter in your collection. This filter shows all cards you can afford to upgrade with your current points. When you have cards ready to upgrade, you'll see a notification dot on the Upgradeable tab, and your points display in the header will be highlighted.
Should I save points or spend them on upgrades?
That's up to you! Some collectors prefer to hoard points for that one special card, while others like to upgrade frequently. There's no wrong approach - do what makes your collection feel special to you.
Deckoli Plus & Free Trial
What is Deckoli Plus?
Deckoli Plus is an optional subscription that enhances your collection experience. It includes:
- Premium Card Effects: Chrome liquid-metal borders and a reverse holographic effect on every card in your collection.
- Unlimited Platform Syncing: Connect PlayStation, Xbox, and future platforms simultaneously. Free accounts can connect one platform.
- 1.5x Points Multiplier: Earn 50% more points on everything — daily logins, achievements, and collection milestones.
- Plus Profile Title & Gold Avatar Border: Show your support with an exclusive collector title and gold border on your profile.
How does the free trial work?
Every account gets one 14-day free trial of Deckoli Plus. No credit card or payment info is required — just click "Start 14-Day Free Trial" on the Plus page. You'll get full access to all Plus features for 14 days. When the trial ends, your account returns to the free tier automatically. No charges, no surprises.
Will I be charged when my trial ends?
No. Since no payment method is required to start the trial, there's nothing to charge. The trial simply expires and your account returns to the free tier. If you want to continue with Plus, you can subscribe from the Plus page at any time.
Can I add a payment method during my trial?
Yes! If you decide you want to keep Plus, click "Add Payment Method" on the Plus page while your trial is active. Your subscription will continue seamlessly when the trial ends.
Will I lose my games or points if I cancel Plus?
No. Your entire collection, all your points, achievements, card rarities, and upgrades are yours to keep — they're not tied to Plus. Canceling (or letting a trial expire) only removes the premium visual effects and reverts you to the free tier limits (one platform sync, 1x points multiplier).
What happens to my platform syncs if I cancel?
If you have more than one platform connected, all your syncs will be paused. If you only have one platform connected, it stays active. All previously synced games stay in your collection either way — nothing is removed. If you resubscribe, your connections are automatically reactivated.
Can I use the free trial more than once?
No, each account gets one free trial. After your trial, you can subscribe to Plus at any time from the Plus page.
How much does Plus cost?
Plus is available as a monthly plan ($2.99/mo) or yearly plan ($29.99/yr — save 16%). You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your profile.
Achievements
How do achievements work?
Achievements are special cards you earn for reaching milestones and completing challenges. They're organized into categories like Collection, Completed, Streak, and more. Each achievement has its own rarity tier and awards points when unlocked.
Where can I see my achievements?
Visit your Profile page to see all your unlocked achievements. You can also see which achievements are still available to earn.
Do achievements affect my collection?
Achievements are separate from your game collection but contribute to your overall profile. Unlocked achievements are displayed on your public profile (if your collection is public) and earn you points.
Card Features
How do I flip a card?
Click or tap on a card to flip it and see the back, which shows the game's description and additional details. Click again to flip back.
What's the parallax/3D effect?
On desktop, moving your mouse over a card creates a subtle 3D parallax effect where the card tilts to follow your cursor. On mobile, you can drag on an expanded card to achieve a similar effect. This makes the holographic effects on higher-rarity cards really shine!
What are Platforms and Editions?
For each game in your collection, you can specify which platform(s) you own it on (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, etc.) and which edition you have. This helps track your collection across platforms and preserves edition-specific cover art.
What is the Series number?
Each card shows a series number based on how early you added that game to your collection. Earlier collectors get more exclusive series:
- Series 1: The first 100 collectors of a game
- Series 2: Collectors 101-500
- Series 3: Collectors 501-2,000
- Unlimited: Collectors 2,001+ (no series badge shown)
Being an early collector makes your card more special!
Release Calendar
What is the Release Calendar?
The Release Calendar shows upcoming and recent video game releases. You can see what's coming out this week, this month, and beyond. Switch to the calendar view from the Browse page, or go directly to deckoli.com/calendar.
Can I share specific release dates?
Yes! Each date in the calendar has a share button that lets you copy or share a link to that specific day. When shared on social media, the link generates a preview image showing the top releases for that date.
Why are some games missing from the calendar?
The calendar only shows games with enough interest (measured by followers or ratings) to avoid cluttering the view with obscure titles. Games without covers or with placeholder release dates (like "Q1 2026") are also filtered out.
Account & Data
Is my collection synced across devices?
Yes! As long as you're signed in, your collection, points, and achievements sync automatically across all your devices.
What browsers are supported?
Deckoli works best on modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience with card effects and animations, we recommend using an up-to-date browser.
Can I install Deckoli as an app?
Yes! Deckoli is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On most devices, you can add it to your home screen from your browser's menu for an app-like experience.
How do I delete my account?
If you'd like to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at support@deckoli.com.
